There is nothing worse than that unexpected “zap” of static when unloading a tumble dryer. It’s worse in the colder months of the year. Here are 10 top tips to eliminate static:
- Ensure that you use a good fabric conditioner
- Separate man made synthetic fabrics from natural fibre fabrics and dry separately.
- Always add a sheet that is dry to the load.
- Rub the dryer sheet directly on to any fabric that is especially susceptible to cling.
- Remove garments from the dryer whilst slightly damp
- For garments that are completely dry, dampen your hands before unloading the dryer and folding.
- If you are wearing close fitting synthetic clothing, i.e. an overall, dampen hands before unloading and folding.
- Some products are available to reduce static, e.g. anti static spray, anti static dryer balls etc
- Ensure that the dryer lint trap is cleaned and the inside of the drum is wiped with a damp cloth before drying each load.
- Keep your skin, particularly your hands, moisturised. Dry skin and fabrics full of static create a cling situation producing more static.
So…follow the above tips and avoid having a shocking day!
