There is nothing worse than that unexpected “zap” of static when unloading a tumble dryer. It’s worse in the colder months of the year. Here are 10 top tips to eliminate static:

  1. Ensure that you use a good fabric conditioner
  2. Separate man made synthetic fabrics from natural fibre fabrics and dry separately.
  3. Always add a sheet that is dry to  the load.
  4. Rub the dryer sheet directly on to any fabric that is especially susceptible to cling.
  5. Remove garments from the dryer whilst slightly damp
  6. For garments that are completely dry, dampen your hands before unloading the dryer and folding.
  7. If you are wearing close fitting synthetic clothing, i.e. an overall, dampen hands before unloading and folding.
  8. Some products are available to reduce static, e.g. anti static spray, anti static dryer balls etc
  9. Ensure that the dryer lint trap is cleaned and the inside of the drum is wiped with a damp cloth before drying each load.
  10. Keep your skin, particularly your hands, moisturised. Dry skin and fabrics full of static create a cling situation producing more static.

So…follow the above tips and avoid having a shocking day!
