Commercial Washing Machines For Equestrian Use

Making sure that horse blankets, rugs, numnahs
and saddle pads are clean and hygienic for horses is vitally important. They can all become heavily soiled with hair, dust and bacteria which can reduce their lifespan and more importantly cause skin irritations and fungal infection on the horse.

To find out how to wash a horse blanket effectively take a look at our  guide to washing horse rugs.

Commercial Washing Machines
Washing the blankets and rugs in a domestic washing machine is simply not effective as it will not provide the specialist deep cleaning and waterproofing that is required to keep the fabrics at their best and also safe on the horse’s skin. More importantly domestic machines don’t have the drum
capacity to wash large blankets which results in a poor quality wash.

The best solution is to use a commercial washing machine that has a larger drum capacity and can also provide specialist programmes to wash the fabrics so they are clean and use detergents that are kind to the horse’s skin.

At JTM we can provide Miele commercial washing machines with

  • Drum capacities from 7.5 kg to 32kg which means they can cater for even the largest horse rug. The 32k machine can wash up to three winter blankets in a single load
  • Specialist programmes for washing equine fabrics including a Nikwax cycle where you can use this leading waterproofing agent to keep horse rugs water resistant
  • Antibacterial programmes to ensure that the fabrics are free from bacteria that can cause skin irritation and fungal infections or alopecia
  • Drums that wash the fabrics for optimum cleaning and for the hair and dirt to be collected in a filter system rather than clog up drains or heating elements
  • Extended wash times as well as several pre-rinse and post rinse settings for exceptional cleaning results
  • Fast spin speeds so that most of the water is extracted making drying times much shorter

Detergents & Water Type
We also make sure that we set up the washing machine so that they will give you the best wash performance. We check the hardness of the water and provide advice on the amount of detergent to use for the type of water in your area and also provide water softening products should they be required. All of which means that you will have the perfect washing solution for horse blankets, saddle pads, rugs and as well as your own equestrian fabrics such as jodhpurs, chaps and jackets.

Tumble Dryers
We can also provide tumble dryers that can dry a range of equine fabrics. Rugs are at their dirtiest in the winter, but this is when it can be hardest to dry them outside. So having a tumble dryer means that you could have a winter rung washed and dried within a couple of hours.

The table below shows the range of Miele washing machines and tumble dryers that are available and their capacity.
